1)What’s your name and job title?

Jake Willcox – Director

2)How long have you worked at Willcox Matthews?

Coming up to 3 years now, since August 2018!

3)What does your job entail?

EVERYTHING – Recruitment, training, marketing, business development & eating lots of sweets!!!

4)What is a typical day like?

A lot of calls, emails & office banter in-between!

5)Favourite memory from your time at work?

Probably our 3rd month of starting the business back in 2018, we’d hit our annual target for the year after 3 months!!!

6)What’s an ideal client?

Someone who shares our values, honest, open and wants to work efficiently.

7)What advice would you offer for someone who wants to be in your industry?

Be relentless. Recruitment is tough and it’s a roller coaster. But the key is to never stop putting in the effort and to always keep yourself busy

8)What do you like most about your job?

The interaction with everyone in the office and making people genuinely happy by securing them jobs that make a real difference to the lives.

9)What do you find most challenging about your job?

Job offer rejections – they’re always a bitter pill to swallow!!

Born in Birmingham, live in Droitwich

11)Where did you go to school?

Droitwich Spa High School

12)What do you like to do when you aren’t working?

Playing football, going to the gym, going on long dog walks & spending time with my girlfriend & friends… oh and preparing to be a dad this coming August!

13)What do you follow outside of work (sports / theatre / tv shows / comics)?

A big football, golf & horse racing fan!

14)What’s a fun fact about you many people may not know?

I had Bell’s Palsy when I was 20 – it’s quite rare, only 20 in 100,000 people get it per year!

15)What was your first paying job?

I worked @ Webb’s of Wychbold Garden centre

16)Do you have a pet?

Yesssssss my lovely little Working Cocker Spaniel Winnie Willcox <3

17)What’s one thing you’re really good at / one thing you’re really bad at?

I’m quite a good all round sportsperson and enjoy my running – I’m very bad at being organised, just ask my girlfriend!!!

18)What three items would you take with you to a deserted island?

Winnie (If I could), A Jet-ski & and lot’s of food!

19)If you could have a career in anything, what would it be?

As a child, I always dreamt of being a pilot – I used to make my Grandad take me to Birmingham Airport so I could watch the planes take off & land

20)If you could meet anyone (real / fictional) who would it be and why?

David Beckham – Icon!
